Reunion Arena Demolition and Auction

by Damien Franco on September 18, 2008

Ever wanted to own a piece of Dallas Stars history (or Dallas Mavericks for that matter)?

Apparently, as part of the demolition process for Reunion Arena located at 777 Sports Street, Dallas, TX an auction will be held for more than 300 items.

Demolition of Reunion Arena is slated to begin next March.

You can bid on everything from grills and retractable arena seats to a Sony Jumbotron screen.

Seriously?!  I would so love to own a Sony Jumbotron screen!

You can view items up for auction on Sept. 18 and Sept. 23 at the arena, 777 Sports Street, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Other items from the 28-year-old facility — including lockers and forklifts — are available in an online-only auction.

You know, in case you need a forklift.

I’ll miss that old building.  Lot’s of memories watching the Dallas Stars play some righteous hockey in that arena.

Reunion Arena closed it’s doors officially late June of 2008.

Hello Hockey World!

by Damien Franco on September 11, 2008

Hello world!  You know that’s what WordPress has on your first post.  I’ve always found it rather funny because it’s so true, except that we are going to be saying “Hello Hockey World!”

An introduction:

My name is Damien Franco and aside from being a huge hockey fan, I am a web author and photographer.  I author the Your Photo Tips blog where I help new and advanced photographers hone the craft of photography. I also have a blog on new media marketing for creative professionals.

Now, about hockey, and more specifically, Dallas Stars hockey!

I’ve been a fan of hockey all my life. The funny thing is that I grew up in a town a million miles away from hockey, Midland, TX. Sure we now have the Dallas Stars in Texas, but we didn’t when I was growing up.

In fact, I grew up a New York Rangers fan. It’s true, and I won’t deny it.

So when the Minnesota North Stars were moved to Dallas, TX and renamed the Dallas Stars I was overjoyed. Finally, hockey had come to Texas!

Here on this blog you will find information, and lots of opinion on the Dallas Stars and the NHL.

Did I mention that this is a joint venture?

This blog will be written by myself and a co-author. I’ll let him introduce himself later.

That’s about it for now, but stay tuned and don’t forget to subscribe to the feed.
